New design is up!
My new design is up, although it’s bugging like crazy in Internet Explorer. I’ll hopefully have that fixed within the next couple of days.
It has been a really challenging month to learn php, css, html, wordpress, photoshop, and web design. I must admit that I cheated in php and just learned how to set up a website – I didn’t actually learn the language. I’ve never used any of these tools before, so it was a challenge to get the new design done in a month on top of working a full-time job. Put that on top of learning how to blog and how to take pictures and I think my brain’s had enough for a while!
The Design:
I felt that the old design was too dark for the kind of image I’m trying to project here, but it had a very simple and easy to use layout that I liked. I tried to keep this design simple and easy to use as well, but also I wanted to add a little more excitement by adding 3 window areas under the logo. I have a lot of plans for these areas, but for now I’ll just rotate pictures and comics when I feel like it. I originally had a flickr plugin installed for the main window, but it bugged out on me so I’ll have to find something else.
I’ll have archives and a contact page up soon. I’ll also be re-organizing the tags and category areas, and prettying up the design here and there.
I have to give a shout-out to small potato www.wpdesigner.com, though he is no longer blogging there, for the amazing tutorial on how to design a WordPress theme. If I didn’t have this I don’t know when I’d be able to finish.
I would really like to hear what you think about the new design. Is it better than the previous one? What would you like to see changed?
