About me

I’ve re-written this about page many times over – it’s been very hard narrow down one specific goal for this site.   I’ve finally found the answer, which was the original reason behind choosing the name Beyond Bounds.  This site represents being outside the box, whether that box is country lines on a map or the thoughts in your head.  I love learning new things, and I love expanding my box to new areas of life.  I’m pretty obsessed with learning.

Beyond bounds is site dedicated to my journey and chasing my dreams.  My dream is to get out of the 9-5 box and out of the nationalistic box and out into the world.  I want to break free of all of the restrictions that society gives us and we put on ourselves and live life to my full potential; not just a comfortable life.

One of my major goals is to be able to speak a bunch of languages.  I already speak mandarin Chinese, and I’m currently learning Japanese.  I will learn Korean again in the future, as well relearn Spanish and then.. well we’ll see!  I love people, and the best way to really communicate is to understand where people come from, and be able to communicate with them in their native tongue.  The world is vast, and only learning about the world from an American perspective would not be very far “beyond bounds”: this is why I’ve been living in China for 4 years.

The other major goal in my life is to get out of the 9-5 grind.  It may not be a grind for some people, but for me it just doesn’t fit.  This is a growing theme on the internet, but the majority of the world still doesn’t understand nor support the concept of financial independence.  This is a major box that needs to be dumped.

I have a long road ahead of me, but it’s worth it as it is my road.  I hope I can inspire some people along the way by blogging about what I learn.  It’s all only worth it as long as you can share it with someone else.
